FC Springfield

Players who played on FC Springfield rosters during the 2008 fall season need to RSVP their spot for the upcoming spring season by Feb. 6.

Lake Country informed us that their registration deadline will be March 11. We need to determine our returning players early enough to sort out any vacancies that need to be filled as well as assess the possibility of forming one or more new teams.

Several players have joined us for the indoor season, so the possibility exists of forming true u9 and u10 teams this spring rather than mixing the two groups together as we did in the fall.

Here’s the schedule for the Shriner Classic Indoor Tournament, hosted by Total Demize S.C.:

Players will wear white jersies for each tournament game. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early. Games will be played inside the Shrine Mosque, located at 601 E Saint Louis Street in Springfield, MO (65806).

Expect the cost to be around $15, give or take a couple of dollars. We see this primarily for kids in the 10-12 years old range; however, 9-year-olds could function alright in the bracket we’re in.

Cliff expects, based on phone messages he’s received, in the range of 10 players participating. Players don’t necessarily have to play in all three games, nor do they have to be on an active indoor roster; however, please understand that we are now obligated to pay the tournament fee, so players who expressed a desire to participate need to follow through.

The tournament fee is $150, which will be split up among the participants.

FC Springfield will have three teams in action on Lake Country’s futsal field this winter. The 2009 January-March schedules have been released and are posted in various locations throughout our web site.

The u10s team will get things started Thursday, January 22, @ 6:30 PM, followed Friday by the first game for the u11/12s @ 8:30 PM. The u11/12s will then play the very next day (Saturday, Jan. 24) at 2 PM, and the u8s play their first game of the season Sunday, January 25, at 2 PM.
