(*) – The U13 team is attempting to arrange its own schedule outside of Lake Country this season. This may entail the creation of a regional travel league, or possibly a series of friendlies with clubs from other parts of Missouri and Arkansas. As a result, we do not have final answer on league costs; however, the $65 league fee above will ensure we can enroll in Lake Country’s league should the other opportunities fail to materialize.

Additionally, we expect the non-LCS option to cost less than $65 per player, which means the total amount due may likely be less than the $215 shown above. Finally If we do enter the tournament in Kansas City, be prepared to budget for hotel accommodations.

Please keep in mind that while  spring soccer games are played in April and May, the registration process is done primarily in February, so players will be expected to communicate their intentions early that month.

The U12 squad earned the championship in its division (U12 8v8), accumulating a record of 7-1. Over the course of the season, the boys scored 27 goals and gave up only six (0.75 GAA).

The U7 squad went undefeated, winning all eight games this spring. They accomplished this while still applying this age group’s policy of equal playing time for all players as well as allowing players to play in all positions. Each player had a chance to play goalkeeper over the course of the season, and the squad used at least three different keepers in each game.

FC Springfield-SpringHigh Select is pleased to announce Stephanie Anderson as head coach for the developing High School Girls soccer team(s) planned for the fall of 2009.

Anderson is entering her first season as the graduate assistant coach for the Drury women’s soccer team. Previously she served as assistant coach for two seasons at Nebraska Wesleyan University, a Division III Institution, where she also played for four years.

During her playing career, Anderson started 69 of 73 matches and never missed a game in her four seasons. She helped her team achieve an overall record of 50-18-5 (.719) as a player, including back-to-back GPAC regular season titles in 2005 and 2006. In addition, she helped NWU extend its unbeaten streak at home to 26 matches (23-0-3 since Oct. 11, 2003), which ranked as the second longest active streak in NCAA Division III. 
 
Individually, the former forward ranks ninth all-time in career goals (32), was an All-Conference performer for three years and earned four letters for the Prairie Wolves. As a sophomore she was named offensive MVP and received the honor again as a senior, when she was also named team MVP.  

Anderson received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from NWU and will be pursuing a master’s degree in communications from Drury University.

“We are very happy that Stephanie will be directing the girls program. We believe it will be very beneficial for young women to continue their development with a positive role model who has achieved so much on and off the field,” said FCS-SpringHigh Select Club Director Cliff Nurnberg.

FC Springfield will hold two open-house style practice sessions for U7-U14 players on June 15th & June 22nd, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Parkview High School soccer field and JFK stadium. A parent Q&A will start at 6 o’clock.

FC Springfield-SpringHigh Select is focused on player development in the youth ranks, building toward the progressively more competitive years of middle school and high school. Openings exist for intermediate/competitive players primarily in the U8 to U12 age ranges. Coaches include youth certified and nationally licensed instructors. 

High School girls are invited to attend to hear about the plans for “SpringHigh for Girls” starting in the fall of 2009. We are seeking girls between U15-U18 who may be considering club options that do not conflict with the high school season.  We will soon be announcing a woman coach with two years of experience as an assistant with a women’s college soccer program.

The new club will be called FC Springfield, with the high school boys’ teams continuing to play with the SpringHigh Select name and uniforms, adding a FC Springfield logo.  The club will continue to utilize Drury soccer players and other experienced area coaches to assist in player training. 

FC Springfield was established in June of 2008 by Clint and Cliff Nurnberg.  The club provides experienced coaching and player-focused growth through organized training sessions and equitable game time for youth development teams. 

SpringHigh Select was founded in 2005 by Jeff Rogers, Rick Temple, and Coach Alf Bilbao, to provide training, league, and competitive tournament play to high school boys during the off season of high school soccer. 

According to FC Springfield’s Club Director, Cliff Nurnberg, the combining of the clubs will provide the soccer community with a player-focused club that will provide seamless affiliation from youth to high school levels. 

“SpringHigh Select and FC Springfield have performed as soccer programs run like a business, rather than a business built around a soccer program,” Nurnberg said.  “The combining of our programs will provide players and families a healthy, economical, and instructive program that is capable of serving kids from their pre-K years through high school graduation.” 

Plans include the continuation of boys’ teams from the U7 to U19 age ranges, with Drury University coaches Alf Bilbao and Ryan Swan continuing to instruct the high school boys. 

In addition, the club plans to add at least one high school girls’ team.  Some FC Springfield youth development teams are coed in nature, and additional girls’ teams may be established in the future depending on interest.
